Buttermilk, also known as chaas is one of the traditional summer drinks that originated in Gujarat. The drink is a flavourful explosion and is a mainstay across many states all around India. It could be described as a toned-down version of lassi but as delicious, if not more. It is a common summer beverage that you can prepare at your home from yoghurt using this simple recipe.

Step 2

To the curd, add water. Depending on how thick or runny you want your buttermilk, you can modify the curd-to-water ratio. To start, mix the curd and water in equal amounts, then taste and adjust.
