Masala mathri is a crunchy and spiced snack that you can present to guests in the four-compartment tray usually found in Indian households. The deep-fried snack can even be baked or air-fried if you are conscious about what you eat.
3 tbsp ghee 2 cups maida ½ cup flour 2 tsp carom seeds Water as needed Ghee for frying 2 tsp pepper 1 tsp cumin seeds Salt as needed A pinch of baking soda 2 tsp dry fenugreek leaves
Sift maida and atta in a bowl.
Add all the spices, herbs, salt, baking soda, and ghee to it.
Use a small amount of water to knead the dough.
After resting the dough for 30 minutes, start shaping mathri.
You can either make round ones, or strips or cut with shaped cutters.
Deep-fry masala mathri or air-fry them until golden brown and crunchy.
