Enjoy the delicious flavours of Indian cuisine with this easy recipe for Masala Lachha Paratha. These layered, flaky breads are seasoned with aromatic spices and make a perfect accompaniment to any meal.
2 cups whole wheat flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon red chilli powder ½ teaspoon turmeric powder ½ teaspoon garam masala ½ teaspoon cumin powder ¼ cup melted ghee or oil Water, as needed Extra flour for dusting
In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and cumin powder.
Add melted ghee or oil to the flour mixture and mix well until it resembles breadcrumbs. Gradually add water and knead into a soft, pliable dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll each ball into a thin disc using a rolling pin and sprinkle some flour if needed.
Apply ghee or oil on the rolled disc, then fold it into pleats like a fan. Starting from one end, roll the pleated dough tightly, resembling a spiral.
Flatten the spiral gently and roll it again into a disc, making sure the layers are intact. Then place on a hot tawa.
Flip the parantha and apply ghee or oil on the cooked side. Cook until brown spots appear on the other side as well.
Serve hot with your favourite curry or raita. Enjoy the delicious, flaky Masala Lachha Paratha!
