Mango Rice: A Yummy Makeover To Your Plain Rice

Popular in South India, this dish is made with green mangoes, cooked rice and aromatic spices. Here is an easy recipe try it at home.

Ingredients

2 tbsp oil, 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp urad dal, pinch of hing, 1 tsp chana dal, few curry leaves, 3 tbsp peanuts, 1 cup raw mango (grated), 2 green chilli, ¼ tsp turmeric, 2 cup cooked rice, salt to taste, 2 tbsp coconut (grated), 2 tbsp coriander leaves

Step 1

Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard, urad dal, chana dal, hing and few curry leaves. Allow to splutter.

Step 2

Then, add in 3 tbsp roasted peanuts and sauté for a minute. Also add in mango, green chilli and turmeric. Sauté for a minute.

Step 3

Now add in cooked rice and salt. Mix gently without breaking rice grains. Cover and simmer for 2 minutes.

Step 4

Furthermore, add coconut and coriander leaves. Mix well.

Step 5

Finally, serve mango rice with salad and papad.
