Made with mangoes, this South Indian dish is cooked in a tamarind-based gravy which is best served with rice. Make mango kuzhambu at home with this simple recipe.
3 ripe mangoes (slit) 1 onion (sliced) 1 small tamarind ½ tsp red chili powder 1 ½ tbsp sambar powder salt as needed ½ tsp mustard seeds ¼ tsp cumin seeds 1 sprig of curry leaves
Soak tamarind in water and extract tamarind juice. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. After it splutters, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and onions.
Sauté well and add mangoes, chilli powder and sambar powder. Give it a stir.
Add tamarind juice and salt. Mix well and let it boil well in medium heat.
When the kuzhambu starts thickening switch off the heat. Serve it hot with rice.
