Making Onam Sadhya At Home? Add Cabbage Thoran To The Meal

One of the crucial dishes that shine out during Onam Sadhya is cabbage thoran on the banana leaf. It is a non-spicy and flavourful dish that you must savour not only during festivities but also otherwise.

Ingredients

1 tsp cumin & mustard seeds ½ cup grated coconut 1 cabbage A pinch of asafoetida ⅓ chopped onion (optional) 1-2 sliced green chillies ½ tsp turmeric ½ cup grated coconut 6-8 curry leaves 2 tbsp oil 1-2 tbsp coriander leaves

Step 1

Add chopped onions and saute them until they are transparent. Sprinkle turmeric powder and hing.

Step 2

Heat coconut oil in kadhai and add cumin and mustard seeds. Wait for them to splutter and add curry leaves too.

Step 3

Add cabbage to the kadhai and stir it. Sprinkle salt and cover with a lid. Let the ingredients come together.

Step 5

Once moisture evaporates, add desiccated coconut and garnish with coriander leaves.

Step 6

Serve the thoran with puri, rice, and other delights of Onam Sadhya.
