Idli, the South Indian staple, is a go-to breakfast option nationwide. If you are making idli in a microwave, here are some tips to get the softest and fluffiest batch.
Make the idli batter with soaked rice and urad dal. Blend and add water in batches. Stop once the batter is consistent.
Grease the microwave-safe idli plates with a little oil so the batter doesn’t stick to the bottom.
Pour the batter into the plates and fill them to about three-fourths, leaving space for the idlis to rise.
Cover the idli plates and steam for about five minutes. Check with a toothpick if the insides are also cooked.
After the idlis are fully cooked, set them aside for about two minutes so that they can cool down.
After two minutes, take the idlis out of the mould and enjoy them with sambar.
