Makhana is foxnut seeds. They are easy to eat raw or are also the base for several easy to make and healthy dishes. They are filling and nutritious. Here's the recipe for makhana salad.
Diced carrot – 1 Diced beetroot – 1 Chopped cucumber – 1 Chopped tomato – 1 Pumpkin seeds – 1 tbsp Black salt – as per taste Lemon juice – 1 tbsp Roasted makhana – half cup
Dry roast the makhana. Dry roasting doesn't involve oil. In a bowl, add all the vegetables and mix well.
Add pumpkin seeds, black salt and lemon juice to the bowl. Add roasted makhana and give it a good stir. Enjoy your makhana salad!
An inevitable part of the fasting menu, makhanas are healthier than dry fruits like almonds, walnuts, cashews and pistachios as they are completely fat free.
