Making chilli flakes at home is simple and rewarding. With just a few ingredients, you can create a fresh and spicy condiment that enhances the flavour of your dishes.
Dried red chillies (as per your spice preference) Pinch of salt (optional)
Select your preferred dried red chillies. For a balanced heat, use a mix of mild and hot chillies. Remove the stems from the chillies. Pinch of salt (optional)
Lightly roast the chillies in a dry pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Be careful not to burn them.
Let the roasted chillies cool. Transfer them to a blender or spice grinder and pulse until you achieve the desired flake size. Add a pinch of salt if desired and store the chilli flakes in an airtight container.
