Banana stem poriyal is a flavourful South Indian side dish made with tender banana stem, spices, and coconut. This dish is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients.
1 cup finely chopped banana stem 2 tbsp grated coconut ½ tsp mustard seeds ½ tsp urad dal ½ tsp cumin seeds 2 dried red chilies Pinch of asafoetida Sprig of curry leaves 2 tsp oil Salt to taste.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté until mustard seeds splutter.
Add asafoetida and chopped banana stem. Cook for 5-7 minutes on medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Sprinkle in salt and grated coconut. Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
