Make Traditional Tamil Nadu-Style Mullangi Chutney In 6 Easy Steps

Mullangi chutney, made with radish, is a tangy, spicy side dish perfect for dosas, idlis, or rice. This South Indian delicacy adds a burst of flavour to your meal.

Ingredients

1 medium radish, grated 1/2 cup grated coconut 2 tbsp chana dal 1 tbsp urad dal 3-4 dried red chillies 1 tsp tamarind paste Salt to taste 1 tbsp oil 1 tsp mustard seeds A few curry leaves

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan and fry chana dal, urad dal, and dried red chillies until golden.

Step 2

Add grated radish and saute for a few minutes.

Step 3

Add grated coconut and tamarind paste, and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 5

Now, transfer the mixture to a blender, add salt, and grind to a smooth paste.

Step 6

Take a pan, heat oil, and add mustard seeds and curry leaves for tempering.

Step 7

Pour the tempering over the chutney and mix well. Serve with your favourite dishes.
