Tomato Murukku is a flavourful twist on the traditional snack, made with rice flour, besan, and tomato puree. This crispy treat combines tangy tomato essence with the crunch of classic murukku for an irresistible taste.
1 cup rice flour ½ cup besan (gram flour) 3 ripe tomatoes 1 tbsp red chilli powder 1 tsp cumin seeds 1 tsp sesame seeds Salt as needed 2 pinches asafoetida Oil for deep frying
Blend the tomatoes into a fine puree and strain to remove seeds.
In a large bowl, combine rice flour, besan, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, chilli powder, asafoetida, and salt.
Heat 3 tsp oil and add to the flour mixture for extra crunch.
Gradually add the tomato puree to form a soft, smooth dough. Fill a portion of the dough into the murukku press and squeeze it into the hot oil.
Fry until the murukku turns golden brown and the oil bubbling reduces.
