Churan goli is an Indian digestive candy known for its unique blend of tangy, spicy, and sweet flavours. Traditionally consumed after meals to aid digestion, churan goli is a quick remedy for indigestion and acidity. They can be made with any combination of ingredients which boost digestive health. Let's explore a recipe for homemade churan goli.
– 1 cup dried mango powder – 1/2 cup powdered sugar – 2 tablespoons black salt – 1 tablespoon roasted cumin – 1 tablespoon fennel seeds (saunf), lightly crushed – 1 teaspoon black pepper powder – 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder – 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida – 2-3 tablespoons water, as needed
In a mixing bowl, combine amchur, powdered sugar, black salt, roasted cumin powder, fennel seeds, black pepper powder, ginger powder, and asafoetida. Mix well and gradually add water, a little at a time, The mixture will form a dough-like consistency.
Once the mixture comes together, take small portions and roll them between your palms to form small round balls or goli.
Place the prepared churan goli on a plate or tray lined with parchment paper, so they are spaced apart to prevent sticking. Allow the churan goli to air dry overnight.
Once the churan goli are completely dry, transfer them to an airtight container for storage. They can be kept at room temperature for several weeks or refrigerated for longer shelf life.
If you want different spice blends or want different ingredients, make sure you have at least one sweet, one tangy and one spicy base ingredient.
