Nagpuri mixed dal vada is a crispy snack from Nagpur made with a mix of lentils. Perfect as an evening snack with tea or as a party appetiser. These vadas are crunchy outside and soft inside, with a nice blend of spices.
¼ cup chana dal ¼ cup toor dal ¼ cup urad dal ¼ cup moong dal 1 small onion 2 green chillies 1 teaspoon ginger ½ teaspoon cumin seeds ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder Fresh coriander leaves Salt to taste Oil for frying
Wash and soak all the lentils together in water for 4-5 hours. Drain and grind coarsely without adding water.
Mix the ground dal in a bowl with chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, cumin seeds, turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander, and salt.
Take small portions of the mixture and shape into flat patties or vadas.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
Remove the vadas from the oil, drain on paper towels, and serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
