Make The Classic French Madeleines At Home

Ingredients

2½ cup unsalted butter ½ cup sugar   1 tsp vanilla extract 2 eggs 2 tsp lemon zest 1 cup all-purpose flour ½ tsp baking powder 1/8 tsp salt Sugar to sprinkle  

Step 1

Melt butter in a pan. Whisk eggs, vanilla extract and lemon zest in a bowl.

Step 2

In another pan, add flour, baking powder and salt. Whisk well. Then, add a little more flour. 

Step 3

Slowly add batter into the melted butter and mix well. Chill the batter in the refrigerator.

Step 4

Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius. Make a mixture of melted butter and little flour.

Step 5

Brush the mixture on the mould and place spoonful of batter in the mould. Repeat.

Step 5

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. When done, sprinkle with sugar and serve!
