Make Street-Style Dabeli For An Authentic Gujarati Snack

Dabeli is a popular Gujarati street food. Made with a spicy potato filling and pavs, dabeli masala, and pavs, it will definitely add some flavour and spice to your mid-day snacks.

Ingredients

For The Potato Filling: 2 potatoes 1/4 cup peas 1/4 cup coriander leaves 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon coriander powder 1/4 teaspoon garam masala 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Salt to taste

Ingredients

For The Dabeli Masala: 1 cup roasted peanuts 2 tablespoons tamarind 1 tablespoon chopped ginger 2 green chillies, chopped 1 teaspoon coriander seeds 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder Salt to taste For the Assembly: Pav buns Sev Green chutney Sweet tamarind chutney Pomegranate seeds

Step 1

Prepare the filling by cooking mashed potatoes with all the spices. Set aside.

Step 2

For the dabeli masala, grind all the ingredients and a little water to make a coarse paste.

Step 3

Take the pav buns and slice them horizontally.

Step 4

Spread a layer of green chutney on the bottom half and tamarind chutney on the top half.

Step 5

Add the filling, top it with sev and pomegranate seeds, and serve.
