Aloo Tikki, a crispy, golden potato patty seasoned with spices, served hot with tangy tamarind chutney, spicy green chutney, and yoghurt is a popular Indian street food. It is loved for its crunchy exterior and is one of the easiest snacks to make at home.

Ingredients

4 large potatoes 1/2 cup bread crumbs 2 green chillies 1 tsp ginger 1 tsp cumin powder 1/2 tsp garam masala 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1/4 tsp turmeric powder Fresh coriander leaves, chopped Oil Salt

Step 1

Peel and mash the boiled potatoes in a large mixing bowl until smooth and free of lumps. Add the green chilies, grated ginger, cumin powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, and salt to the mashed potatoes.

Step 2

Add the breadcrumbs to the mixture and mix again. Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into round, flat tikkis (patties).

Step 3

Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.

Step 4

Place the tikkis in the pan and cook them until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Step 5

Cook in batches if necessary, adding more oil as needed.

Step 6

Serve the aloo tikkis hot with chutney, yoghurt, or as a part of a chaat dish.
