Make South-Indian Style Cabbage Thoran In Just 6 Steps

Cabbage thoran is one of the most simple and easy South Indian recipes that you can make at home, irrespective of the weather. It is nutritious, healthy, and comforting. Filled with the goodness of coconut, cabbage thoran is a must-try.

Ingredients

½ cup grated coconut 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 2 cups finely chopped cabbage ½ teaspoon turmeric powder 2-3 chopped green chillies Salt to taste A pinch of asafoetida 1 teaspoon urad dal A handful of curry leaves 2 tablespoons coconut oil

Step 1

Heat a pan, add coconut oil, pour in mustard, and wait for the seeds to flutter. Saute urad dal until it turns brown.

Step 2

Add chopped green chillies and curry leaves. After a couple of minutes, add cabbage, salt to taste, and turmeric powder.

Step 3

Cook the cabbage for 8-10 minutes. Once it starts to soften, add grated coconut to the mix.

Step 4

After a couple of minutes, add asafoetida and salt to taste. It will heighten the flavours.

Step 5

Turn off the heat and take out the dish in a bowl.

Step 6

Enjoy thoran with paratha, steamed rice, and curry of your choice.
