Imagine a fluffy roti served on your plate comprising your favourite dal and curry. It is a comfort meal that no junk food can beat. However, if your chapati does not come out soft, it can ruin the taste. Here are a few handy hacks that will help achieve soft and fluffy roti without hassle.

When you are kneading the dough, add lukewarm oil to it. Just a tablespoon will do the trick. Keep it aside for at least 10-15 minutes and make chapattis.

Use warm water, especially in winter, to knead the doubt for roti. It will ensure that gluten expands. Keep it aside for 5-10 minutes, and your roti will be soft.

After kneading the dough, cover it with a wet cloth. If you let it set in the open, it will harden, and your chapati won’t be fluffy and soft. Wet muslin cloth is the best for this purpose.

Another way to make your chapati soft is by kneading the dough with curd. Do not use chilled curd, but keep it aside before you add it to the flour and use lukewarm water.

Instead of oil, you can use ghee while kneading the dough. Melt it and add it to the flour. After mixing it, knead the dough using lukewarm water to make soft roti.

Another ingredient that can come to your rescue is baking soda. Adding it to the flour along with milk can add to the fluffiness of the flatbread. Knead the dough with water.
