The popular Mughlai dessert Shahi Tukda, also known as Double ka Meetha, is a rich and indulgent treat made with bread, ghee, sugar syrup, nuts and saffron. And you can easily make it at home!

1 cup sugar 1/2 cup water 1/4 teaspoon cardamom Saffron strands (optional) – 4 slices of bread – Ghee – 1 cup whole milk – 1/2 cup condensed milk – 1/2 cup khoya – Chopped nuts

In a pan, combine sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Add cardamom powder and saffron strands

Simmer the syrup for 5-7 minutes until it reaches a slightly sticky consistency. Set aside. Cut the bread slices into triangles. Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat.

Fry the bread slices until they turn golden brown on both sides. In a separate pan, heat whole milk. Once the milk comes to a boil, add condensed milk and khoya. Stir continuously over medium heat until the mixture thickens

Dip each fried bread slice into the prepared sugar syrup for a few seconds, ensuring it absorbs the syrup. Place the soaked bread slices on a serving plate

Pour the prepared rabdi over the bread slices. Garnish with chopped nuts and saffron strands.

Allow the Shahi Tukda to chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and serve
