Sattu flour is a traditional Indian ingredient made from roasted gram flour. It is full of nutrition and can be used in many recipes. It is very popular in North India, especially in Bihar, where it is used to make refreshing drinks, stuffed parathas, and even sweets. Here’s how you can make sattu flour at home.

Ingredients

500 gm whole gram 1 tsp cumin seeds Salt, a pinch

Step 1

Heat a heavy-bottomed pan on medium flame.

Step 2

Add the whole gram (chana dal) and dry roast for 10-15 minutes until they turn golden brown and emit a nutty aroma. Stir continuously to avoid burning.

Step 3

For added flavour, you can roast cumin seeds along with the gram for the last 2-3 minutes.

Step 4

Once roasted, transfer the gram to a plate and let it cool completely. Use a grinder to grind the roasted gram into a fine powder.

Step 5

Sift the ground flour to ensure a fine, even texture. Store it in an airtight container for up to a month.
