One of India’s most popular street foods, the Samosa Chaat is also quite simple to make at home.  The dish has contrasting textures - crisp exterior, soft interiors and an explosion of flavours that come from the chutneys.

Ingredients

4-5 medium-sized samosas 1 cup boiled chickpeas (chole) or boiled potatoes 1/2 cup onions 1/2 cup tomatoes 1/2 cup coriander leaves 1/2 cup plain yoghurt

Ingredients

1/2 cup tamarind chutney 1/2 cup green chutney 1/2 tsp chaat masala 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder 1/2 tsp red chilli powder 1/2 cup sev

Step 1

Soak tamarind in warm water for about 15 minutes, then squeeze out the pulp. Cook with jaggery, salt, and a pinch of chilli powder until thickened.

Step 2

Blend fresh coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chilies, garlic, lemon juice, and salt into a smooth paste.

Step 3

Whisk the yoghurt. Place the samosas on a serving plate and lightly crush them with your hands to break them into large chunks.

Step 4

Top the crushed samosas with boiled chickpeas or boiled potatoes. Add chopped onions and tomatoes.

Step 5

Drizzle tamarind chutney and green chutney over the samosa mixture. Pour the whisked yoghurt over the top. Sprinkle chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder, and salt . Add sev and garnish with coriander leaves.
