Paneer Tikka is a popular Indian appetiser made from marinated paneer cubes, grilled or baked to perfection. The marinade, consisting of yogurt, spices, and herbs, infuses the paneer with rich flavors. It’s served with chutney, onions, and lemon for a tangy, smoky treat.
250 grams paneer (cubed) 2 tbsp thick yoghurt (preferably hung curd) 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tbsp red chilli powder 1 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp garam masala 1 tsp ground cumin 1 tsp ground coriander 1 tbsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves) 1 tbsp mustard oil (or any oil) Salt
In a bowl, combine yoghurt, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin, coriander, kasuri methi, mustard oil, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
Add the cubed paneer to the marinade and coat each piece evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or preferably 1-2 hours, to allow the flavors to infuse.
Preheat your oven or grill to 200°C. If using a grill pan, heat it on medium-high heat.
Skewer the marinated paneer cubes onto metal or wooden skewers. Grill the paneer for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until it’s golden brown and slightly charred. If using an oven, bake the paneer on a lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Garnish the paneer tikka with fresh coriander leaves and serve with onion rings and lemon wedges on the side. Enjoy with mint chutney or tamarind chutney. This recipe yields 3-4 servings of delicious, smoky, and flavorful paneer tikka
