Make Restaurant Style Dal Tadka At Home

Treat your family with this delicious restaurant style dal tadka.

Ingredients

For Pressure Cook: ½ cup toor dal, 2 tbsp masoor dal, ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp salt, 1 tsp oil, 1½ cup water For Dal: 2 tbsp ghee, ½ tsp cumin, 1 bay leaf, 1 pinch asafoetida, 2 dried red chilli, 2 clove garlic, 1 inch ginger, 1 chilli, 1 onion (finely chopped), ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp kashmiri chilli powder, ½ tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp salt, 1 tomato finely chopped, 2 tbsp coriander, 1 tsp kasuri methi, ¼ tsp garam masala, For Tadka: 1 tsp ghee, ½ tsp cumin, pinch asafoetida, 1 dried red chilli,  ¼ tsp Kashmiri chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander

Step 1

Pressure cook both dals along with turmeric, salt, oil and water until dal is cooked well and keep aside.

Step 2

Now in a skillet heat ghee and splutter cumin, bay leaf, hing and red chilli, garlic, ginger, chilli then add onion and sauté until it turns golden brown.

Step 3

Then add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, tomato and sauté until it turns soft. Add in cooked dal and stir well.

Step 4

Simmer for 5 minutes, add coriander, kasuri methi and garam masala and mix well.

Step 5

Cook for a minute and enjoy dal tadka with jeera rice or steamed rice.
