Peanut chutney is a creamy, flavourful condiment made with roasted peanuts, spices, and a hint of tanginess from tamarind or lemon. A staple in South Indian cuisine, it pairs beautifully with dosas, idlis, and rice, adding a nutty richness to any meal.
1 cup roasted peanuts 2-3 dried red chillies 1-2 garlic cloves 1 small piece of tamarind (or 1 tsp tamarind paste) ½ tsp cumin seeds Salt Water
1 tsp oil ½ tsp mustard seeds 1 sprig curry leaves 1-2 dried red chillies
In a blender, combine roasted peanuts, dried red chillies, garlic, tamarind, cumin seeds, salt, and a little water.
Blend to a smooth or slightly coarse paste, adding water gradually to achieve the desired consistency.
Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add curry leaves, and dried red chillies, and sauté for a few seconds.
Pour the tempering over the blended peanut chutney. Enjoy with dosas, idlis, vadas, or as a dip with snacks.
