Mathri is a famous Punjabi snack that has now found its way to almost every part of the world. To give the classic mathri a sweet twist, you can make meethi mathri and pair it with your evening tea.
2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup water 1/2 cup ghee 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 teaspoon saunf 1/4 teaspoon elaichi A pinch of salt Oil for frying
Knead a dough with whole wheat flour, ghee, sugar, saunf, elaichi, and salt.
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for half an hour.
Take small portions from the smoothened dough. Roll into thin circles.
Prick the circles with a fork to prevent them from overpuffing while frying. Heat up oil and deep fry.
Prepare chashni (sugar syrup) by simmering sugar and water. Dip and coat the fried mathris in the chashni.
Let them cool down. Finally, enjoy them as an evening snack.
