Crafted by Oscar Tschirky at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in 1896, the Waldorf salad seamlessly combines nuts and fruits with mayonnaise to form a crunchy and creamy dish. Here’s a simple recipe to enable you to make this classic dish at home.
3 chopped, peeled, and cored apples 1 cup sliced celery ½ cup chopped walnuts ½ cup mayonnaise 1 tablespoon white sugar 1 teaspoon lemon juice ½ teaspoon sugar
Assemble all the ingredients for your homemade Waldorf salad.
In a bowl, whisk together sugar, mayonnaise, salt, and lemon juice.
Add the apples, celery, and walnuts to the bowl and mix them thoroughly with the mayonnaise-lemon juice concoction.
Cover the salad with a plastic wrap and refrigerate it till it’s ready to serve or savour, as needed.
