Make Nutritious Maharashtrian Thalipeeth At Home

Thalipeeth, is a traditional Maharashtrian flatbread made from a mix of flours and spices.

Ingredients

1 cup jowar flour 1 cup bajra flour 1 cup besan 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup rice flour 1/4 cup coriander leaves 1 small onioni

Ingredients

2-3 green chilies 1/2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1 tsp coriander powder 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/2 cup yoghurt Water as needed

Step 1

Combine the jowar flour, bajra flour, besan, whole wheat flour, and rice flour. Add chopped coriander leaves, onion, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin seeds and salt.

Step 2

Add the yoghurt to the dry mixture. Gradually add water, little by little, and form a soft dough. 

Step 3

Take a small ball of dough and place it on a flat surface. Use fingers to  flatten the dough ball into a round, thin disc.

Step 4

Heat a tawa and transfer the flattened dough disc onto the hot tawa.

Step 5

Heat a tawa and transfer the flattened dough disc onto the hot tawa.

Step 6

Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side. Flip the dhapate and drizzle a little oil or ghee around the edges and on top. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
