Nariyal ladoo, or coconut ladoo, is a popular Indian sweet made primarily from coconut. These delicious treats are often prepared during festivals and special occasions. They are easy to make and require minimal ingredients.
2 cups fresh grated coconut (or desiccated coconut) 1 cup sweetened condensed milk 2 tbsp ghee 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
If using fresh coconut, grate it finely. If using desiccated coconut, ensure it is fresh and soft. If it feels dry, you can hydrate it slightly by sprinkling a little milk over it.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee. Add the grated coconut and sauté for about 2-3 minutes. Stir continuously to prevent burning.
Reduce the heat to low and add the sweetened condensed milk to the pan. Mix well with the coconut. Continue to cook the mixture for 8-10 minutes. Add the cardamom powder.
Let the mixture cool slightly. Grease your hands with a little ghee.
Take a small portion of the mixture and roll it between your palms to form a smooth, round ball. The mixture should be warm but not hot.
Place the prepared ladoos on a plate and let them cool completely. Once cooled, they can be stored in an airtight container.
