A Mexican spiced mocha is a delicious and warming coffee drink that combines the flavours of chocolate, coffee, and traditional Mexican spices. It has the warmth of a classic mocha coffee and a kick of Mexican chillies. Here's the easy recipe

– 1 shot of espresso – 1 cup whole milk – 2 tablespoons cocoa powder – 2 tablespoons granulated sugar – 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon – 1/4 teaspoon chili powder or cayenne – Whipped cream and chocolate shavings

Brew a shot of espresso or make a strong cup of coffee. If using instant coffee, dissolve 1-2 teaspoons in hot water. Heat the milk over medium heat until it's warm but not boiling.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, ground cinnamon, and chili powder or cayenne. Pour the warm milk into the cocoa mixture, whisking continuously to ensure a smooth blend.

Add the shot of espresso or strong brewed coffee to the milk-cocoa mixture and continue whisking. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness and spice and add more sugar or spices if needed.

Return the mixture to the saucepan and heat it until it's hot but not boiling. If you have a milk frother, you can use it to froth the milk for a creamier texture.
