Tired of eating regular one-pot dishes like pulao and khichdi? Why don’t you try making meethe chawal for a hearty lunch or dinner? Try this traditional recipe and add a variety to your daily meals.
1.5 cups soaked rice 2.5 tablespoons ghee 1.5 cups sugar 1 cup chopped dry fruits 4 green cardamom 4 cloves 1 cinnamon stick Pinch of saffron Salt to taste
Boil the soaked rice in water, salt, and 2-3 green cardamoms.
In a separate pan, add some ghee and cinnamon and heat till they sputter.
Once aromatic, add rice, saffron, and chopped nuts like almonds, cashews, and raisins.
After everything is mixed, add sugar and cook till it is caramelised.
Keep stirring to coat the rice with sugar syrup.
Garnish with some more chopped dry fruits and serve hot.
