Make Masala Iced Tea With Spices From Your Kitchen

Masala Iced Tea combines bold spices with the refreshing chill of iced tea. Infused with ginger, cinnamon, and cardamom, this flavourful drink offers a perfect balance of warmth and coolness for a hot summer day.

Ingredients

4 star anise 4 allspice berries 8 cloves 8 peppercorns 8 green cardamom pods, crushed 2 cinnamon sticks ¼ cup sliced ginger (2 thumb-sized pieces) 4 cups water 3 tbsp loose-leaf black tea (Assam or Darjeeling) 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 ½ tbsp maple syrup or honey (to taste) Milk and ice to serve

Step 1

Place spices, ginger, water, and tea leaves in a pot and bring to a boil.

Step 2

Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 20 minutes.

Step 3

Remove from heat and strain the tea, discarding the solids.

Step 4

Add vanilla extract and maple syrup or honey to the tea concentrate. Store the tea concentrate in the fridge for up to a week.

Step 5

To serve, mix equal parts tea concentrate and milk, then add ice.
