Since it’s the season of mangoes, it is the perfect time to prepare mango jam at home. You can do away with all the preservatives and dyes to make the most delicious and lip-smacking sweet condiment. You and your kids can spread it on bread, toast, and biscuits. Try out this recipe.
2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 large ripe mangoes 1 cup granulated sugar ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
In a saucepan, add granulated sugar, mangoes, and lemon juice. Bring this mixture to a boil and stir occasionally to dissolve sugar.
Reduce the heat and let the ingredients simmer for 20-25 minutes. You will notice mangoes will become soft and the mixture will achieve jam-like consistency.
Use a potato mash to combine ingredients into a smooth paste. You can leave small bits of the fruits to add a chunky texture to the jam.
Add vanilla extract after you have turned off the flame and left the jam to cool off for a few minutes.
Once the jam is completely cool, store it in an airtight container. You should keep it in the refrigerator.
Enjoy the jam with toast, pancakes, and even ice cream. It will stay in your fridge for at least two weeks.
