Gelato, the Italian cousin of ice cream, is a summer special frozen treat that keeps you refreshed. But with this recipe, you don’t have to settle for the store-bought dessert and make your own creamy gelato at home.
Milk - 2 cups Heavy cream - 1 cup Powdered sugar - 3/4 cups Egg yolks - 3 Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon Pinch of salt
Make a custard-like base by heating milk, heavy cream, sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a pan.
Whisk the egg yolks and add them to the same pan and let the mixture simmer.
After you get a thick consistency, turn off the heat and add vanilla extract.
Strain the mixture to remove lumps, if any and refrigerate overnight to get the best taste.
Pour the chilled base into your ice cream maker and churn it for about twenty minutes.
Transfer the churned gelato into an air-tight container and freeze it for about four hours.
Once the gelato is firm, you can have your refreshing dessert.
