Gur wale chawal, a comforting North Indian dish, combines the natural sweetness of jaggery with fragrant rice. It's a simple yet nostalgic dessert perfect for any occasion.
Soak 1 cup of basmati rice for 20 minutes and then cook until tender.
In a pan, dissolve ½ cup of jaggery in ½ cup water over low heat. Strain the jaggery syrup to remove impurities.
Add cooked rice to the syrup and mix gently. Sprinkle cardamom powder, and garnish with chopped nuts (almonds, cashews). Simmer for 5 minutes and serve warm.
