The thin, crispy khakhra is a big favourite with foodies especially those who enjoy nutritious and light snacks that are low in calories. This garlic khakhra is quite flavourful and bingeworthy and quite easy to whip up at home. Let's explore the recipe.

Ingredients

– 1 cup whole wheat flour – 1 tablespoon oil – 1 teaspoon crushed garlic – 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder – 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste) – Salt to taste – Water (as needed for kneading) – Ghee or oil for roasting

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, crushed garlic, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and oil. Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth and firm dough. The dough should not be too soft or too hard.

Step 2

Divide the dough into small, lemon-sized balls. Take one dough ball and roll it into a small disc on a clean surface. You can use a rolling pin for this purpose. Aim for a thin and even thickness.

Step 3

Heat a griddle or a flat pan over medium heat. Once the pan is hot, place the rolled khakhra on it. After a few seconds, flip it over. Apply a little ghee or oil on the surface of the khakhra. Press it gently with a spatula so that both sides are well-cooked.

Step 4

Repeat the rolling and roasting process for the remaining dough balls. Allow the garlic khakhras to cool completely before storing. They will become even crispier as they cool.
