Cabbage rolls are very delicious and healthy. This recipe is trending on the internet very much during the winter season. Cabbage is a seasonal winter produce. Try this easy recipe to make at home.
1 large head of green cabbage 1 kg chicken 1 cup cooked rice 1/2 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup chopped celery 1 clove garlic 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 can crushed tomatoes 1 cup veggie broth
Blanch the leaves in the boiling salt water for a few minutes until they are softened.
Stir fry and brown the chicken. Add the onion, celery, garlic, oregano, thyme, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
Sauté until the vegetables are softened. Stir in the cooked rice and mix well.
Place a spoonful of the filling in the centre of each cabbage leaf.
Roll up the leaves tightly and secure them with toothpicks. Combine the crushed tomatoes and broth.
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer. Place the cabbage rolls in the tomato sauce, cover the pot, and simmer for 1-2 hours. Serve.
