Besan Ladoo is a classic Indian sweet made from roasted gram flour, ghee, and sugar, flavoured with cardamom. These rich, melt-in-your-mouth treats are often prepared during festivals and special occasions, offering a delicious blend of nutty flavours and a soft, grainy texture.
2 cups besan (gram flour) 1/2 cup ghee 3/4 to 1 cup powdered sugar 1/4 tsp cardamom powder 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, cashews)
Heat a kadhai, add the ghee and let it melt. Then add the besan and stir continuously to avoid lumps and ensure even roasting.
Continue roasting the besan for about 15-20 minutes. After the besan is roasted, turn off the heat and let it cool slightly. Once the besan is warm, but not hot, add the powdered sugar and cardamom powder.
Add chopped nuts at this stage. While the mixture is still warm, take small portions and shape them into round balls (ladoo) using your hands.
Press the mixture firmly as you shape the ladoos to ensure they hold together well.
Place the ladoos on a plate or tray and allow them to cool completely.
Once cooled, the ladoos will firm up. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature.
