Paneer pakoras are a delightful treat for guests. This dish with perfectly soft, savoury paneer and crunchy, spiced coating can be made in minutes and is a go-to recipe especially when guests arrive unannounced. The warm and inviting snack pairs wonderfully with tangy chutneys and is a crowd-pleaser.
200 gms paneer (cottage cheese) 1 cup gram flour (besan) ¼ tsp turmeric powder ½ tsp red chilli powder ½ tsp garam masala ¼ tsp chaat masala 1 tsp ajwain (carom seeds) Water Oil Salt
In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, ajwain, and salt. Mix well.
Slowly add water to the dry mixture, stirring continuously until you have a thick, smooth batter without lumps.
Heat oil in a deep pan or wok. Dip each paneer cube into the batter, ensuring it is coated evenly.
Carefully place the coated paneer cubes into the hot oil. Fry until they turn golden and crispy, about 2–3 minutes on each side.
Remove the pakoras with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Sprinkle chaat masala if desired, and serve hot with mint or tamarind chutney
