French toast is a classic comfort food that transforms simple bread into a golden, fluffy breakfast treat. Perfect for breakfast or brunch, it’s easy to make at home, with eggs, milk, and a touch of sweetness.
4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or brioche) 2 large eggs 1/2 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 1 tbsp sugar or honey Butter or oil Maple syrup, honey, or powdered sugar
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar until fully combined.
Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter or oil to lightly coat the surface.
Dip one slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated but not overly soaked.
Place the dipped bread onto the hot skillet. Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter or oil as needed.
Serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.
