Whether you are looking for a quick breakfast or snack recipe, Bombay rava upma passes the checklist. Made using semolina, this delight is a must-try in summer. Here is its quick recipe to help you break away from a hangry mood.
Oil 1.5 cups rava ½ chopped potato 1 chopped onion 1 chopped tomato 1-2 garlic cloves 1 teaspoon chana dal ½ teaspoon mustard seeds 1 tablespoon chopped capsicum 1 tablespoon chopped carrot 2 slit green chillies 4-5 cashews Water as required Salt to taste Chopped coriander leaves
Start by heating oil in a pan so that you can saute veggies. Add chana dal and mustard seeds.
Once the dal has roasted and the seeds start to splutter, add onion, garlic, and potatoes.
As soon as potatoes start to soften, add tomatoes, carrots, capsicum, cashews, and green chillies.
Cover the pan and let the vegetables cook. You can add salt to taste and red chilli powder (optional).
Add water and fold in rava. Put the lid on again and let the mixture thick. Keep stirring in between.
Serve the Bombay rava upma hot with filter coffee, tea, or juice.
