Soak the almonds in hot water for about 2-3 hours or until the skin can be easily peeled off. Once soaked, peel the skin off the almonds. Grind the peeled almonds into a smooth paste with a little milk

Warm a tablespoon of milk and soak the saffron strands in it. Allow it to infuse while you proceed with the next steps. Heat a pan and add 1/4 cup of ghee. Add the almond paste and sauté on medium heat.

Cook the almond paste until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan. This process may take about 10-15 minutes. Keep the heat medium to avoid sticking to the bottom.

Add sugar to the almond paste and continue stirring. The sugar will melt, and the mixture will become slightly watery again.

Add the remaining ghee and continue to cook the halwa. Keep stirring continuously to avoid lumps and ensure even cooking. The halwa will thicken and leave the sides of the pan. Add the saffron

Add a handful of chopped nuts. Cook until the halwa reaches a thick, glossy consistency. Garnish with the reserved chopped nuts.
