Make Authentic South Indian Cabbage Poriyal In Just 5 Steps

A flavourful and easy-to-make side dish from South India, cabbage poriyal goes well with rice or roti and only requires a few steps to prepare. Look at the recipe:  

Ingredients

1 teaspoon mustard seeds   1 cup urad dal   2-3 dry red chillies   2-3 curry leaves   Salt to taste   1 teaspoon turmeric powder   1 Cabbage   1 cup grated coconut   Oil according to you

Step 1

Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and let them splutter.  

Step 2

Add urad dal, dry red chillies, and curry leaves, and sauté until golden.  

Step 3

Add the chopped cabbage to the pan and mix well with the tempered spices.  

Step 4

Season with salt and a pinch of turmeric powder. Mix it well.  

Step 5

Add grated coconut and cook for a minute, then remove and serve it hot.
