Makar Sankranti is celebrated in India to bid goodbye to the bone-chilly winters. It usually falls on January 14 and it is a day when the Sun transits or into the sun sign – Capricorn. Besides, it marks the epitome of food that warms the body.

Appalu

This sweet dish is from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is made out of wheat flour, rice flour, and jaggery. The dough is flattened and deep-fried in oil.
