Maharashtrian Kande Poha: The Perfect Breakfast

Kande poha is a popular breakfast dish in Maharashtra and is often served with a cup of tea or coffee.  It is also a popular snack that can be enjoyed anytime during the day.  So, next time you are in the mood for something quick, easy, and delicious, try making kande poha at home!

Ingredients

2 cups poha (flattened rice) 1 onion, finely chopped 1 potato, diced 1/4 cup peanuts 2 green chillies, chopped 1 tsp mustard seeds 1 tsp cumin seeds 1/4 tsp turmeric powder Salt to taste 1 tbsp oil Fresh coriander leaves, chopped Grated coconut Lemon juice

Step 1

Rinse the poha in a colander and soak it in water for 10 minutes. Drain the water and set the poha aside.

Step 2

Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When the seeds start to splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.

Step 3

Add the diced potatoes, green chillies, and peanuts to the pan and sauté for a few minutes.

Step 4

Add the turmeric powder and salt to the pan and mix well. Add the soaked poha to the pan and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, grated coconut, and a dash of lemon juice.
