San Francisco's Henry Africa's invented the Lemon Drop in the 1970s. Some attribute it to Norman Jay Hobday, the bar's founder, as this cocktail's inventor.
A Lemon Drop Martini is another name. The cocktail has gained legendary status. In 2006, Oprah called it her favourite after preparing it with Rachael Ray.
Ingredients 1 ½ ounces vodka 1-ounce fresh lemon juice ½ ounce Triple Sec ½ ounce simple syrup Superfine sugar for the rim Lemon twist for garnish
Create a notch in a lemon wedge and use it to rub a martini glass. Just dip the rim into a platter of superfine sugar to decorate it.

Prepare a lemon twist. In a cocktail shaker, blend the vodka, Tripple Sec, lemon juice, and simple syrup with ice. Shake vigorously.
Pour the cocktail into the sugar-rimmed glass. Add the twist of lemon for garnish and serve.
