Caramelised onion and mushroom is treasured the world over as a classic panini (sandwich) combination. Not only is this dish extremely easy to whip up, but it’s also tasty and loaded with nutrients from mushrooms, onion, and cheese. Here’s a simple recipe for the same.
Panini bread 2 tbsp Butter 3 cups chopped mushrooms 2 cups chopped onions 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese Water Salt, to taste Sugar, to taste
To start off, in a saucepan on a low to medium flame, introduce some butter and onions with a pinch of sugar and salt.
Once the onions start taking on a slightly golden brown colour, add a splash of water to the concoction and let it simmer till the onions have fully caramelised.
Add the chopped mushrooms to the caramelised onions and cook the mixture for about 2–3 minutes.
After the caramelised onions and mushroom mixture has fully cooked, generously spread butter on the panini bread.
Stuff the bread with the onions-mushroom mixture as well as generous amounts of cheddar cheese and toast it lightly.
Once toasted, lay out the panini on a plate and serve or savour the dish as needed.
