5 Alcoholic Drinks From India You Should Try

We love our Moscow Mules and Screwdrivers, but when in Goa in we need our Feni, similarly how in Himachal we crave some Lugdi; here are some more local alcoholic drinks you should try.

Chaang 

From the hilly regions of Kashmir, Ladakh and Assam; this intoxicating drink barley rice and yeast is also famously known as the drink of the Yetis! 

Poro Apong

This Assamese tribal drink can make you heady after only a glass or two. The rice beer is slightly green in colour.  

Feni 

One of the crown jewels of Goa’s indigenous fare, this strong liquor made with cashews and ripened cashew apples may have an overwhelming flavour for some, but once you develop a taste, there is no looking back. 

Chuwarak 

Whiskey lovers raise your hands. This local, distilled whiskey made with rice, pineapple and even jackfruit is a tipsy treat from Tripura.  

Judima 

This local rice wine from Assam is not so strong, and hence ideal for people who like a smooth buzz. The rich and satiating taste of the wine makes it a local favourite.
