Punjabi dal tadka and rice is a comfort food for North Indians. Be it summer or winter, this one recipe is not short of an obsession for people who live on dal chawal. Here is how you can make restaurant-style dal tadka at home.
1 cup toor dal 2 tomato 1 onion 1 black cardamom Salt to taste 4 cups water 2 tbsp ghee, coriander ½ tsp turmeric, cumin 1 bay leaf 10 garlic cloves ½ cup moong dal A pinch of hing 1 tsp chilli, kasuri methi
Rinse moong and toor dal. Soak them for at least 20 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pan and saute tomatoes, onion, back cardamom, bay leaf, garlic, salt, and turmeric.
Add the lentils and cook for 5 whistles in a pressure cooker.
Heat ghee in a pan and saute minced garlic.
After cooking cumin seeds, chilli powder, kasuri methi, and hing in the pan, pour dal in it.
Cook ingredients until they come to a boil. Serve and enjoy!
