Dal fry is hands down one of the most delicious North Indian delights that pair exceptionally well with steamed rice and aloo bhurji. It is a comforting and healthy meal for many. Here is an easy recipe to try at home.
1 cup toor dal 2 tbsp ghee ⅛ tsp hing Water as needed 1 tomato, red chilli 1-2 green chillies ¼ tsp turmeric, garam masala ½ tsp kasuri methi, red chilli 2 tbsp coriander leaves 1 tsp ginger-garlic, mustard seeds ½ tsp cumin seeds Salt to taste
Wash and soak dal and cook it in a pressure cooker with turmeric and salt.
Heat ghee in a kadhai and add cumin seeds, red chillies, mustard seeds, green chillies, and ginger garlic paste.
Add chopped tomatoes to the mix along with turmeric powder. Cook until tomatoes are mushy.
Add the spices and roast them. Add a splash of water to prevent spices from burning.
Pour boiled dal into the kadhai and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Top it with garam masala and kasuri methi.
Serve dal fry with roti, rice, and sabzi after garnishing with coriander leaves.
